Baijnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.It is said that the Baijnath temple is built by Kumaon Katyuri king on the bank of the Gomti river in around 1150 A.D in Bageshwar district. Situated on the left bank of the Gomti River at an elevation of 1126 Mts.
Baijnath Temple is One of the famous places to visit in Baijnath. The temple holds historical and religious significance of Uttarakhand. Baijnath Temple constructed in the twelfth century. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga. Baijnath Temple is well known for Incarnation of lord shiva as Shiva Vaidyanathan,(The Lord of Physicians,) the Baijnath temple is built by the Katyuri kings with the idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya, and Brahma.
Baijnath is one of the four places to be connected by the “Shiva Heritage Circuit” In Kumaon.


Weather hereabouts is same as Bageshwar. Semi humid type climate and the conditions are extreme during the different seasons. Summers are warm and the temperatures rise significantly only during the peak summer months about 28℃-11℃. Winters are bitterly cold as the temperatures are below freezing point for many months about 2℃ - 15℃. The monsoon season is similar to that in many other parts of the state and good rainfall is to be expected.


The town of Baijnath gets its name from the temple baijnath. the temple is constructed in stone by the orders of a Katyuri queen.
Thousands of visitors tourists and devotees visit here In the occasion of Shivratri. Shivaratri dedicated to Lord Shiv-Parvati, on this day devotees keep fast and offer bael leaves to lord shiva. Maha Shivaratri and Sawan Shivaratri are very famous here.

Throughout the year the weather of Baijnath (Bageshwar) is different the temperature changes from -2℃ in winter to 40℃ in summers but the crowded months are March to June(15℃ to 28℃) in summers and November to January (2℃ to 15℃)in winters.
